Southern Dutchess Eye Care

Excellent staff, excellent experience! Highly recommend Southern Dutchess Eye Care for all your eye needs. I was experiencing an issue with my eye after coming home from vacation, they were booked solid, but somehow they squeezed me in and got me taken care of. The Dr spent the same amount of time with me as he would have if I had an appointment. Can’t say enough good things about them!

I’ve only been going to Southern Dutchess Eye Care for 2 years, but I’m really blown away by their service. Every staff person, medical and front desk, are professional and welcoming. Dr.Chin is awesome. She takes the time to answer any questions I have and has a wonderful demeanor. Also tue tech they use here and the overall ambiance is really nice. Additionally the staff member who assisted me in selecting my frames was super friendly and patient. Even though I have great insurance I usually just order my frames online because of cost. She helped me get a beautiful frame well within my budget which I appreciate. I’d highly recommend SDEC.

I have never been here before. I decided to contact them because they were in my Network. I am sooooooo glad I did. I felt like I was really part of the Family. Everyone was so respectful and kind. I was so pleased with Dr. Lindsay Chin, she explained absolutely everything to me, every step of the exam. I told her, no one has ever been this thorough with me, on any eye exam. I will keep her forever. LUCKY ME !!!

I called there today (10/4/23) to make an appointment with someone to have my eyes checked for a prism prescription. The first conversation I had was with someone who seemed very sweet and accommodating. I had questions that had to be checked with one of the technicians and unfortunately, I was on hold for too long, so I had to hang up due to being at work myself. A minute or two later, I got a call back from someone else at the front desk who immediately came off as very rude and inconvenienced. She asked for the name of my insurance carrier and didn't seem familiar with it. Because of this, she became very condescending, rough and impatient. She pushed for me to email her a photo of my insurance card, which I would have done if she didn't talk so fast while giving me the email address. I asked her to repeat it a couple of times and I heard she was getting more and more frustrated. I humored her and said I'd email it to her as I already knew I wouldn't step foot into this establishment. Similarly to how many others feel, first impressions are EVERYTHING, especially when you're in business serving the public. From my perspective, this was not a very good impression of this office. I've worked in the medical field for over 20+ years and never have I ever treated anyone less than or been condescending to any patients who have walked through the door. I think this specific individual needs to grow compassion, patience and understanding while getting some re-training on how patients should be treated, or she should start looking for another job. It's unfortunate for this business as well as the patients to be subject to someone who can acquire such an attitude towards others. This is groundwork to scare patients away. There are enough issues going on in this world that rudeness shouldn't be one of them. Needless to say, I found another office who was more than helpful, full of enthusiasm and was happy to assist me in making me an appointment. I absolutely do not recommend Southern Dutchess Eye Care to anyone who is looking to establish care.

Over this time I have seen different doctors, and each one has always given me the same attention and high quality of care I know I can count on. Each one has listened patiently to and completely addressed my questions and concerns, and I always leave feeling satisfied that I have received the best of care. The staff is professional and also genuinely warm and friendly. I highly trust and recommend Souther Dutchess Eye Care to anyone.
